Preliminary Inspection
A high-level overview of the damages affecting the external joinery, any root causes, such as, water ingress, poor ventilation or poorly executed previous repairs.
Understanding the condition of external joinery
Effective and sustainable maintenance is the goal for any housing association, maintenance company, or property manager. To approach a maintenance project in the most effective way, having a clear understanding of the technical condition of the exterior joinery is essential. Our ‘Preliminary Inspection’ provides the solution.
Through this assessment, we offer a comprehensive overview of the type of wood damage and provide a recommendation for repair based on Repair Care’s established methods, along with the required level of training.
Our inspection in 5 steps
To complete a Preliminary Inspection, Repair Care’s Technical Advisor goes through the following five steps:
Together with the client, we discuss the exact issues and requirements. Are the underlying issues clear? We then ask you to inform the residents of our arrival in preparation.
A Repair Care Technical Advisor will then visit the project on the agreed day. We select representative homes and carry out the inspection after the residents’ consent.
We inspect several wooden structures of the selected houses. The inspection continues until we have a representative picture of the condition of all the exterior joinery.
In an Inspection report, we list the defects and types of damage found. While doing so, we record our findings with photos.
Based on the findings, we draw up a recommendation for timber repair, and provide a example of what can be expected in a survey report. We can also indicate the level of training required for implementation of these repairs.
